Bay windows are beautiful window configurations and can be used in a variety of situations.  For instance, a bay window can be placed in an opening where there may be two side by side windows which would offer enough space (width) to realize the true benefits of the larger sill and the center picture (fixed) window.



Bay windows have the option of having double hung windows (up and down) on the ends or casement style windows (fully vented) flanking each side of the center window.

Through the years of answering the phone and listening to so many common concerns we have developed a list of the eight most commonly asked questions.  Let's face it - it is not like we buy windows, siding, roofing, gutters or doors often in our life.  So, navigating the process can be a bit confusing and will undoubtedly stimulate ideas.  We hope this list covers most of your questions and if you need anything else, simply give us a call!

1. Is the estimate free?

Yes, we provide consultations and price quotes at no charge to those with a need for our services and a willingness to provide us with an opportunity.  Reps are knowledgeable and are willing to try and evaluate your situation and make recommendations based on your preferences and needs.

2. How long does it take?

Consultations usually take about 45 minutes, however there are instances where it could be shorter or longer.  The fact is that it is ideal to set aside about 60 minutes to make sure that all of your questions are answered, proper measurements can be made and a thorough product demonstration can be completed, but the homeowner ultimately dictates the amount of time that it takes to complete a consultation.  We do not overstay our welcome!

3. How much does it cost?

The truth is that it is a very risky business to quote a home improvement project over the phone.  Literally, no two windows are the same, no two roof systems are the same and no two siding projects are the same.  In order to accurately provide a price quote, our representatives need to see the home's details and formulate a solution that best works for the situation.

4. Does the homeowner inquiring need to be present ?

Details are important parts of home improvement projects.  To provide accurate quotes, we need to know exactly what the homeowner is looking to have done.  There are so many options and without getting good feedback it makes it difficult to give an accurate price quote.

5. What hours do you meet with homeowners to discuss home improvement projects?

Our representatives are available Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM - 7:30 PM, Fridays from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

6. How long does it take once a decision is made to go with Home Visions Inc.? This depends on the product, but a good time frame would be 4-6 weeks from the day of signing a contract to the day the work is complete.  (Most jobs are actually completed in one day.)

7. Do you offer financing/ take credit cards?

Yes, we offer special financing programs for all types of consumers as well as accept all major credit cards.

8.  What brands/ manufacturers do you carry?

Home Visions Inc. is proud to offer a wide variety of products manufactured by several reputable companies some of which are local (DC, Metro based).  For example, we use CertainTeed siding and roofing products, Mastic siding products, Simonton Windows, Vytex Windows (Laurel, MD), Tamko (Frederick, MD) and GAF.

Replacement windows are engineered for specific climates.  For example in the southeast the emphasis is placed on lowering the solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) (keep the heat from the sun out) because the average annual temperature is much higher than the northern states.  But, homeowners in the northern states benefit from the sun's heat in the winter.  It is important to find a replacement window product that has a low enough SHGC to help in the hot Washington summers, but also allow some of the warmth from the sun in the cold, damp winters.

How much do replacement windows cost?

This is a question that we are certain most will find the answer to elusive...to say the least.  For so many things in this world we are able quickly find out the price and in many cases from the comfort of our home we can "shop' around.  This is not the case for replacement windows and let's try to understand why.

Because no two homes are exactly alike and rarely are two windows that are made exactly alike, it is a very tough question to answer.  Because there also so many window manufacturers in the county (over 4600) it is also difficult to simply quote a price on a window becuase there are variations between manufacturers that drive price as well as variations within the same brand that dictate price.

Although it is an investment of time, it is best to invite a trained representative out to the "job site" to see the installation conditions as well as narrow down the best window replacement option for you.

We can say this about pricing...if you spend $600 or more for a standard replacement window - you can find a better value.
